Hospital Care Alcohol Poisoning Alcohol Poisoning - MRI Results Are Ok, But Speech Loss?

Alcohol poisoning - MRI results are ok, but speech loss? - hospital care alcohol poisoning

There are about 2 weeks, a close friend of mine fell into a coma. It happened in the night, and someone had found the morning and immediately taken to hospital. My friend was not good for a few days previously happened and who was a heavy drinker and heavy. Doctors cited alcohol abuse as the cause of the coma. He also said it was hypoglycemia.
My friend was conscious in a coma for about 4 days and today. The doctors had removed the oxygen tube, but has stopped feeding tubes in gold (in the last week or so) my friend is awake and can hardly lift his head and limbs, has no control over bladder function / anal His eyes are open and he seems to speak. But the words do not come out - only unintelligible sounds, and then begins to cry. The doctors have a CT scan and MRI done yesterday. They also tested all the organs - heart, blood pressure, kidney, liver, etc., all results were normal - by the way my friend is over 70 years. MRI is the latest evidence that the doctor had to do, and now that the results were good, the doctors said, my friend,is safely and reliably discharged from the hospital.
But our biggest problem now is that my friend is not good - still can not speak, has no control over bladder and the anus and can not take care of yourself - we're not even sure that his memory is intact. The hospital and doctors are some of the best I know, but do not have any information / ideas address, we are all very worried. We can take it home and look after him - but he is not in place, without trying to help you stay better. So please, someone can help with all experiences, all that can my friend, his wife and help me to improve the situation. My friend never return to normal?

Scientists say alcohol is worse than cocaine. Alcoholics die Mai 40 and looking 70 to die of hunger, because the attempt to stay high all the time. Alcohol can destroy not only pleasure in the brain, but can the liver, stomach, kidneys and all organs that can be imagined. If he was so determined to find a drink that is in turn fixed to some other beverages containing alcohol or wood alcohol, the shaving lotion, hair tonic, and daily use of alcohol bottles antiseptic. When this happens, is destroyed in the stomach, is alive and eats brain cells. If a patient is moved to a hospital after drinking wood material, the regular infusion of alcohol, sometimes the forest. But the damage is irreversible.

If your friend is also a diabetic, could have entered into a coma, they do not have enough sugar in the blood and carried to an excess of circulating insulin. That could now also be hypoglycemic without diabetes.

What remains of his brain and body after she attacked by eating nothing and drinking too much alcohol, I wonder hand he is alive. Too few drinkers quit, and if they do, and will have something to drink, find, and witch hazel.

Physicians should suggest recovery? At his age and condition can only recommend that you simply go home. What is hard to guess, and if he can not pay much attention and care a long way until the signs of improvement. Volunteer at the VA hospital, veterans of many in the end turned to alcohol, no recollection of their period of service and it is sad to see how a bottle to another without having a live - real life. I saw many of my tribe in the end die of complications, diabetes and a heavy drinker.

What you can do is find someone who should see themselves with the elders and what is available to your friend in the service of leading workers in the clinic in a position to a center or nursing. Good luck.

Results of chronic alcoholism in the brain atrophy (shrinkage of the brain) and also because of deficiencies in vitamins Wernicke encephalopathy a diet of alcohol (does not contain enough vitamins and minerals!).

Unfortunately, these effects are not reversed, and his advanced age does not help either.
Your best option is a nursing home or nursing home visits (very expensive option).
